Biography

Edward M. Prunchunas leads Cedars-Sinai‘s financial operations, ensuring that the institution has the resources needed to serve the community, conduct biomedical research and provide training and education for healthcare professionals. Among the areas he oversees are financial planning and reporting, capital planning and risk management.

Prunchunas joined Cedars-Sinai in 1981 as director of Budget and Reimbursement. He was promoted to executive vice president in 2015 after serving as associate director, director, vice president and then senior vice president of Finance and chief financial officer. Previously, he was chief financial officer at Northridge Hospital Medical Center, and worked on the consulting staff of the accounting firm Ernst & Young. He began his career at Blue Cross-Blue Shield of Illinois and Blue Cross of California.

Prunchunas is a past fellow of the Healthcare Financial Management Association (HFMA) and past president of the HFMA Southern California chapter. He earned a bachelor of science degree in accounting from the University of Illinois at Chicago.
